Help us help you.

When we develop products, it’s always good to hear from the people who use them so we can make sure we’re hitting our mark. And because our egos are (mostly) in check, we like to collaborate with other inventors to help them get their products ready for market. It’s all just part of our mission to make the world a more accessible place where people with vision loss and multiple disabilities can lead the most independent and productive lives possible. Keep reading to see how you can get involved.

Test a Product

As a product tester, you’ll be providing a great service to not just us, but to the entire community with vision loss by making sure our designs are not only useful, but easy-to-use. All you need to do is qualify and we’ll get in touch with some instruction and some products to test.

  • APH is seeking field evaluators to test Creacube, an innovative electronic tool designed to make practicing basic math facts engaging for kindergarten and early elementary school students. Creacube is a handheld cube featuring numbers in both print and braille on its faces.

In addition to enhancing math skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, Creacube introduces blind students to braille numerals, fostering familiarity and confidence in using braille. This versatile tool is an excellent supplement to classroom instruction, helping students of all vision levels improve their math fact fluency in an interactive and inclusive way.

Basic knowledge of braille numerals is needed for blind students to use this tool. You may contact Li Zhou at lzhou@aph.org with any related questions.

Testing begins in March 2025. If interested in testing Creacube, please complete this Creacube testing application form by February 28.

  • The American Printing House for the Blind (APH) is seeking field test evaluators for the BrailleDoodle, a two-sided tablet for braille learning and creating tactile images. Designed for students who are blind or have low vision, it also supports teachers and parents who work with them. Its refreshable surfaces offer a fun way to study braille, STEM, Art, and more!

The number of available field-test prototypes is limited. Selection is based on geographic location, number of students available to test with, and type of instructional setting.

If you are interested in evaluating the BrailleDoodle, please complete the form below by February 20, 2025. Field testing begins in March 2025. You may contact Karen Poppe at kpoppe@aph.org, 502-899-2322 or 800-223-1839, ext. 322 with related questions.

  • APH is seeking teachers to evaluate and test Cosmic Number Lines, a math game for iOS devices. The app is designed to help early elementary school students with blindness or low vision—specifically, second and third graders—learn numeracy concepts and skills through interactive number lines. Some of the foundational skills your students will learn include constructing a number line, locating points, comparing numbers, finding distances, and solving addition and subtraction problems.

This app would be a great supplement to classroom instruction by strengthening all students’ understanding through fun gameplay, regardless of their level of vision.

Testing begins in spring 2025. If you have an iOS device and are interested in testing this app with your second and third grade-level students, please submit this application form by February 14th, 2025.

Contact Li Zhou at lzhou@aph.org with any questions.

Once assembled and connected to power, Paige Connect operates as a six-key Bluetooth keyboard to be used on any website or application that accepts six-key entry. If you are interested in field testing this device, please complete this evaluator application form for Paige Connect by January 31, 2025.

You may contact Jennifer Wenzel at jwenzel@aph.org with any questions about field testing for Paige Connect.
