Meet APH Large Print

a hand tracking paragraphs on a book

Textbooks are a universal classroom staple. Teachers and students rely on their backpacks full of textbooks to contain the information that makes up their curriculum. But what about students with low vision? The average textbook is full of tiny text, glossy pages, and small graphics that create boundaries in learning for students who are not typically sighted. How can we make sure every student has access to the information they need to succeed? That’s where APH Large Print and Digital Textbooks comes in.

two images comparing original textbook to APH Large print. Text for original textbook reads "As many as 50 typefaces, all different sizes. Text with APH Large print says "select number of typefaces, clean and uncluttered pages"

APH Large Print is all about optimal readability. To ensure the student gets all the information they need in an accessible format, we use a specialized process, coupled with field tested designs and specifications to make our textbooks perfect for a reader who has low vision. The final result is a textbook with only a few different accessible typefaces, a new layout, and full resolution large text.

While this layout means the student’s book may now be several volumes, they are easier to transport and are the same size as the textbooks their peers use. A great feature of the APH Large Print textbooks is that they come with a digital download from the APH File Repository making all of the books even more accessible! This allows students to access the information they need in the style that works best for them.
