CloseLittle Adventurers: Attend Fabled Friends with The Dot Experience

Looking for a magical way to spend the day with your preschooler? Grab your monarch wings, dust off your dragon scales, and flutter on over to the Fabled Friends Preschool Party at LFPL’s Southwest Regional Library on February 22, 2025, with The Dot Experience!
Event Overview
At the Fabled Friends Preschool Party, mythical creatures are on the loose, and adventure awaits! This enchanting event invites preschoolers to explore a world of hands-on learning, creativity, and discovery through engaging activities and interactive art stations. Every child that attends will get a free book to take home, courtesy of the Jefferson County Early Childhood Regional Collaborative. With The Dot Experience, little learners will discover that everyone can play, learn, and explore in their own way — whether through movement, touch, or problem-solving. By weaving together imaginative play, inclusive design, and hands-on exploration, this event fosters empathy, confidence, and a deeper appreciation for the diverse ways we all experience the world.
Program Content and Activities
In the enchanted Land of Dots, monarch butterflies’ shimmer like the realm’s most precious jewels. But trouble is afoot! A wicked toad has snatched them all and hidden them deep within his murky swamp! Only the bravest adventurers can embark on this daring quest to rescue the stolen butterflies and restore magic to the land.
The adventure begins with Hop-A-Dot Mat, where children use an alphabet spinner and braille chart to mimic letter shapes with their bodies, stretching and preparing them for the journey ahead. With their muscles warmed up, they work with Colby, the coding mouse, to navigate a maze in search of cheese, learning early coding concepts, logical thinking, and problem-solving along the way. As they continue their quest, they must help Chameleon find his lost magical gemstones, digging through sand and sorting the treasures by color and size — an activity that strengthens fine motor skills and early math abilities.
To reach the swamp, young explorers transform into graceful fairies, twirling colorful, textured ribbons to music. This playful station encourages self-expression, rhythm, and spatial awareness, while also reinforcing social skills through mirroring and movement. Finally, at the Swamp Attention Bags station, children and their families create sensory bags filled with swirling colors, glitter, and tiny frogs, which they illuminate on an APH Light Box to explore visual tracking and sensory engagement.
After conquering each challenge, our brave adventurers will have freed the monarch butterflies at last! As a token of their heroic efforts, each attendee will take home their very own satin monarch butterfly.
