Attention: Tiger Software Suite is Upgrading!

If you own a PixBlaster embosser, you are probably already familiar with Tiger Software Suite (TSS) since your embosser came with a free license. If you’re not familiar, know that TSS is a popular collection of apps for creating and editing both braille and tactile graphics. Now TSS is offering a paid upgrade from version 7 to 8 and bringing with it a whole lot of improvements! Please note the cost of the upgrade is not Federal Quota eligible and that the upgrade is entirely optional. If you choose not to update, you’ll be able to continue using TSS 7 the same as you did before. Nothing will change about how you use your embosser; you just won’t get the features listed below.

Now, let’s go over some of the new features included and how you can upgrade your current license!

Features

TSS 8 will now include a set of customizable UEB Grade 2 contraction tables that you can use to customize which contractions are utilized at any one time. This feature is a great way to help people learn braille as you can customize your translations to only use the contractions that are familiar to them.

This upgrade also utilizes LibLouis 3.21.0, which includes many changes and improvements for UEB and math tables.

One of the best features is that you can now import your PDFs directly into Tiger Designer, which will make it easier to emboss the best possible graphic with braille. Previously you could only open them in a PDF reader, like Adobe, which prevented the embosser from recognizing improperly inserted braille as text instead of a graphic.

There’s a lot in this release. Please check out this release from ViewPlus for more information about all the new upgrades!

How to Upgrade

If you’re about to purchase a PixBlaster embosser, then the good news is that TSS 8 will come free with that purchase.

If you previously purchased a PixBlaster, you’ll upgrade by paying $395. This upgrade is paid to ViewPlus Technologies and is not eligible for Federal Quota funds.

It’s important to note that there is a special “recent purchase” window for those who have purchased a PixBlaster after March 15, 2022. If you purchased your PixBlaster after that time, you’ll be able to upgrade for free. To upgrade, please contact sales@viewplus.com with your current TSS license number and/or embosser serial number.

If you have any questions about the new features or the upgrade process, you can contact APH Customer Service at support@aph.org, or 1-800-223-1839.
